January 4: YOU ARE IN TRANSIT

YOU ARE IN TRANSIT | 4 January

"Ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you." —Deuteronomy 12:9

One day, a family set off on a countrywide road trip. During a stop at a scenic rest area with amusements, the youngest child became so captivated she refused to leave when it was time to continue. Her father smiled and said, “Enjoy the view for two more minutes, but remember—this is just a stop on the journey, not your home.”

This story reflects the reality of life on earth. We often become consumed by the beauty, busyness, and noise of the world. Yet, like the traveler, we must remember that we are merely passing through. Life is a transit station, not the final destination.

The world, with all its demands and distractions, can feel overwhelming. We hustle, labor, and chase after success, but God’s Word reminds us: “This is not your rest” (Micah 2:10). Earthly achievements—money, possessions, power—are fleeting. The journey will inevitably end, and our destination will be eternal: either heaven or hell.As believers, we have a glorious promise: “There remains therefore a rest to the people of God” (Hebrews 4:9). This eternal rest is found in Jesus Christ, who invites us to prepare for a life beyond this transient world. How can we prepare?

  1. Accept Jesus Christ
Begin your journey to eternal rest by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).
  2. Set Your Affection on Things Above
Paul exhorts us: “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2). Focus on heavenly treasures, not earthly ones.
  3. Live with Eternity in Mind
Whether you are building a house, buying a car, or enjoying the blessings of life, always remember: you are in transit. Use your time, resources, and influence to glorify God and prepare for your eternal home.

When life feels noisy and chaotic, take heart. This world is not your final destination. Your journey is leading to a place of everlasting peace and joy in the presence of God. Don’t let the distractions of this temporary world derail your path to heaven.

Embrace the promise of rest and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Amen.

Today’s Recite:Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:20, 21

Today’s Morning Prayer:

1. Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of life. Thank You giving us Jesus Christ to redeem us and give us eternal life in heaven.

 2. Lead me to Your rest oh Lord. While I sojourn here on earth, may I not burn out in Jesus mighty name.

3. Grant me Your grace to live a balanced life without compromising my final rest. I ask all in Jesus name. Amen!

4. Help me to watch and pray.
