September 8: THE FAITH GAUGE

Daily Companion  | 8 September

THE FAITH GAUGE

“For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith (Romans 12:3).

In automotive and aerospace engineering, a fuel gauge uses what is called a potentiometer to estimate the amount of fuel in a car or an aircraft and the distance range it can before emptying. Like the fuel gauge in the car, so is the faith gauge.

From the start, there must be evidence and certainty that your faith would carry you to achieve your set target, to receive what you ask God or to reach the proposed destination. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen." Faith is not based on uncertainty, but rather on your measurable capacity or potential to receive from God. It is like oil in the lamp. Faith is not based on chances, luck or probability but on your potentiality: what you possess.

Faith is not a factor of your holiness but your capacity to receive from God. You may be holy but still with little faith. Despite being saved and a follower of Christ daily, Peter was yet a man of little faith. Christ told Peter, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” (Matthew 14:31). But an 'unworthy sinner woman' was tagged with great faith. “Great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.” (Matthew 15:28).

Beloved, if your measure of faith is low or small, God deals with you low or little. , If your faith is great, God deals with you greatly. If you want an increase in faith, you need to first work on your potential, and improve yourself first because faith without work is non-existent. Empty yourself of all scientific and spiritual biases. Embrace and internalize God’s word: the faith booster. Ensure you choose your words well when you pray. Encircle yourself with faith boosters. People you journey with may drain your faith level: causing faith to leak or puncture through discouraging words.

Today’s Recite: And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” (Luke 17:5)

Today’s Morning Prayers:  O God thank You for another new day of grace. Increase my faith today. Help my unbelief. Increase my capacity to accommodate your blessings and miracles in my life. Add more vessels to my pots of oil in Jesus mighty name! Amen!
