Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.- John 11:23
The conversation that occurred between Christ and Martha in John chapter 11 when her brother Lazarus died was not a mere one. It was probably one of the ignored parts of that passage. Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” (John 11:23). Martha's thought was that Christ was referring to the rapture of the saints on the resurrection on the last day. That was a doctrinal teaching she held a strong belief in. No doubt, the resurrection day awaits every believer, dead or alive: a hope reaffirmed by all the apostles as well. “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14).
But in "Thy brother shall rise again", Christ was not referring to the resurrection or rapture day. He was referring to the "rise again" in this life not just in the life to come.
Dear friend, are there things or persons in your life that are dead to you? Things you cherish or desire but are not alive now; persons even though they breathe but are comatose or incommunicado. The Lord says they shall rise again. You too shall rise again. Your passion for Christ shall rise again. Your love for your spouse shall rise again and vice versa. Your business and finances shall rise again.
But this promise is for everyone who believes in Christ Jesus unto salvation; and who has accepted Christ as personal Lord and Saviour. It is a promised revival in this world and immortality to all the children of God. The hope that dispels sorrows and mourning over a believer who has gone to sleep in the Lord. It is time to rise again.
Today’s Recite: “On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old" - Amos 9:11
Today’s Morning Prayers: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the promise and hope of revival and resurrection. I believe in Your resurrection power. I receive Christ's life. Revive everything that is comatose or dead in my life. I shall not die but live. I shall live to glorify You. I renounce sin and the sinful world. Grant me Your grace to remain fit for the final resurrection day in Jesus' Name. Amen!
