HOW TO PLEASE GOD

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. - Romans 8:8

In one way or another, we all have our preferences. There are things that impress us; things that win our hearts; and also things that are acceptable to us. So does God. God is moved exceptionally when we do things that impress Him. On the contrary, carnality and sin put God off.

The first prequalification to impress God is to be born of the Spirit. Except a man be born of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5). This must continue in spiritual mindedness. We are oft pleased to hear those who speak and understand our own language. God’s language is the spiritual tongue of a baptized Christian. God is Spirit. Those who are spirit-minded, filled, and discerning are God’s ‘kinsmen’

Secondly, it is by holiness and obedience to His word. Not only do we get our prayer answered by doing this, but we gladden His heart as well. Faith is the third. “For without faith, it is impossible to please him.” (Hebrew 11:6). No matter, your commitment to His house, and possession of all other spiritual attributes, without unwavering faith in God, you can’t please Him.

As Children, obeying your parents is something that pleases God. Honour your father and mother is a cardinal commandment of God. “Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:20). Obedience to your parents attracts God’s favour to you.   Having a zeal for God's work impresses God. Phinehas pleased God and earned everlasting covenant “because he was zealous for his God.” (Numbers 25:1).

David said, “I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the LORD.” (Psalm 69:30, 31). God dwells within the praises of His children. Would you like to please God? Then rise up to praise and worship Him in the spirit and holiness!

Today’s Recite: That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; Colossians 1:10 (NKJV).

Today’s Morning Prayer: O God I thank and praise You this morning. I confess all acts of flesh in me. Purge me from carnality.  Grant me the grace to do only what is pleasing in Your sight from this morning henceforth. May I never do what will displease you again. Fill me with Your Spirit to praise and worship always in Jesus mighty name. Amen!

Today’s Hymn: Praise Him, Praise Him
