UNHOLY ALLIANCE (IF YOU GO, BE GONE)

“O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the children of Ephraim. But if you go, be gone!” (2 Chronicles 25:7-8)

Amaziah, the king of Judah had prepared to go to war against the Syrians but he decided to seek an alliance with the army of Israel. God then sent a prophet to warn him against such a move. “O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the children of Ephraim. But if you go, be gone!”

It is good to collaborate and have alliances in different facets of life. In academics, students may form study groups with other students. In business, people often merge businesses with partners. In prayers, Christians may decide to have prayer partners. Organizations may have alliances. However, not all alliances or partnerships are divinely approved. Some men carry curses on them and partnering with them could spell doom. You may be better off without a partner than with an accursed alliance. The same goes for marital relationships which is a lifetime journey.

Before going into any partnership, always seek the face of God. Carefully and prayerfully choose your team and partner. Unfortunately, even among Christians, some are already rejected by God. “For the Lord is not with Israel”. Who would have thought that God has forsaken the “pastor” you seek spiritual support from? Be careful of who you pray with during spiritual battles. If you are not winning, think of who you are with. And when God warns, listen and obey.

Obedience is better than sacrifice. Amaziah listened and went not with the wrong team. He obeyed and he won the battle against the Syrians with God alone. And it is not too late to call off any unholy alliance. You might have even invested so much in the business. Come out of it. “Amaziah said, "But what shall we do about the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?” And the man of God answered, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.” But if you go, be gone! You shall not be gone in Jesus' name! Amen!

Today’s Morning Prayers:  Heavenly Father I thank You for the admonition. I surrender to Your lead today. Guide me and guard me against the evil alliance in Jesus' name. Reveal and release me from every unholy relationship or alliance in my life. Take me out of them in Jesus' name. I receive grace to heed Your Amen!
