TAKE HEED LEST YOU FALL

Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. - 1 Corinthians 10:12

The Bible lists examples of faithful men and women who challenged society, stood up for their beliefs, and sought for righteousness. Before they each made a mistake that was brought on by their excess or overconfidence, these "all obtained a good report" and were innocent.

Noah was a great patriarch of faith but he “planted a vineyard: and he drank of the wine, and was drunken” (Genesis 9:21). David, the man after God’s heart, "did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD...but only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite". (1 Kings 15:5). Moses was the meekest person on earth, yet, he “spake unadvisedly with his lips” (Psalm 106:32, 33). With all the great exploits of faith, Joshua allowed his “men took of their victuals and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD” (Joshua 9:14, 15).

But God forgave them, "not for their own sakes but for God's sakes". But they earned such mercy. Because even in their error they were not arrogant but humble. They were penitent. They didn't hide themselves nor make excuses for their mistakes like Adam.

Remember Lot's wife, Demas, Judas, Uzza and Saul who ended without a record of restoration. Of Saul and his son Jonathan it was recorded, in 2 Samuel 1:19 "The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!"

Beloved, beware of overconfidence and excessiveness. “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. (1 Corinthians 10:12). To err is human but to repent is humility. Repent, and retrace quickly before the windows of grace are closed. Don’t let your good be evil spoken of. Are you a leader, you don’t know it all but God does. Enquire from the Lord before taking that hasty decision.

Today’s Recite:  Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. - 1 Corinthians 10:11

Today’s Morning Prayers:  Heavenly Father I thank You for another exposition of Your grace today. I pray for Your mercy. I don't want any action or inaction to tarnish Your image in me. Grant Your grace to stand and end my race without falling in Jesus' mighty name. Amen!
