THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

Luke 24:45 (KJV)45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Prophet Elisha had the spiritual gift to know and understand things. He was gifted to spy for his country's military. So on one occasion, the Syrian military secretly strategised to invade Israel but the man of God saw it and revealed the plan to the Israeli government. Furious that their planned invasion had leaked out, the Syrian army was sent after the man of God. While his abode was surrounded, the assistant to the man of God ran to his master, “Sir, we are under siege!” The man of God said, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (2 Kings 6:17). And Elisha's assistant eyes were open to see an invisible great army of God with chariots of fire round about them.

The gift of the word of knowledge is possible to all believers who covet it. It is likened to Elisha knowing things, and understanding God's word. God will have to open your eyes to see beyond the ordinary. But you must have a genuine purpose and pray to God to have it. Elisha asked God to open his servant’s eyes to see the invisible chariots of fire. Christ opened the disciples’ eyes “that they might understand the scriptures” (Luke 24:45).

Beloved, in a challenging and chaotic world, you need Christ to open your inner eyes, first to know the moves of the adversaries and secondly to see God’s wondrous security around you, and His future plan for you. This will help you to take the right steps in the right direction;  to see success and not failure; to see victory and not defeat.

Today’s Recite: "Know therefore and understand, ...the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. - Daniel 9:25

Today’s Morning Prayer: Oh God I thank You for the gift of the word of knowledge and understanding. I need You to open my eyes today to see what plans and provisions You've got for me. I receive Your divine security and protection around me and my family and all that I have in Jesus' name I pray. Amen!
