October 15: ARE YOU LOYAL TO GOD?

ARE YOU LOYAL TO GOD?

"So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs." - John 21:15

Daily, we are faced with temptations that test our loyalty to God. Sexual, positional, monetary or even dietary enticements are laid before us to make us betray our loyalty to our spouse, family, organization or God. But we are to be reminded that Portiphars' wife's seduction could not break Joseph's loyalty to God (Genesis 39). Rechab's grandchildren refused to betray an agelong family loyalty. They refused to taste alcoholic wine when challenged by even the constituted authority (Jeremiah 35).

Loyalty to God is an important aspect of the Christian faith. It means remaining steadfast in our devotion to Him, trusting in His guidance, and faithfully obeying His commandments. This loyalty is not a one-time commitment but a continuous journey of seeking Him, studying His Word, and aligning our lives with His Word. Walking in God's statutes and keeping His commandments requires a conscious effort to live according to His principles and values.

We all hate being betrayed, and so does God. It is treacherous to have any other god besides God. “Thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. (Exodus 34:14). “Serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts." (1 Chronicles 28:9).  "Let your heart therefore be loyal to the LORD our God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as at this day.” (1 Kings 8:61)

Dealy beloved, we are called to follow God's commandments not out of obligation, but out of love and reverence for Him. Christ says in John 14:15, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." His commandments are not meant to restrict us but rather to guide us, protect us, and lead us towards a life of fulfilment, purpose and prosperity with Him. Our loyalty to God should encompass our thoughts, actions, relationships, and the choices we make on a daily basis. By remaining loyal to God and walking in His ways, we can experience a deepening relationship with Him. We can find comfort, strength, and peace in His presence.

Today’s Recite: "“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul”.  - Deuteronomy 10:12 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayer: Oh God I thank You for another new day of grace to love You. I pledge my allegiance to You and Your cause on earth. I renounce any act of betrayal to my family values, the church of God and You, O God. I rededicate my life to You and ask in return that You prosper me and everything around me in Jesus name I pray. Amen!
