October 11: THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD

Daily Companion  | 11 October

THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him, all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him." - Colossians 1:15-16 (NKJV)

A young girl wanted to see herself exactly the way others see her. She was asked to grab two mirrors so she could see how people see her. "Put them adjacent to one another so that their edges contact. Next, tilt each mirror diagonally in your direction so the edges make a straight angle as if you were holding a book", she was told. Look at yourself in the mirror right now. Adding a second mirror flips the reversed image, revealing your "true" image while one mirror reverses it.

Everyone is invisible to himself or herself.  Without the aid of a picture or mirror, no one can ever describe how he looks facially. Similarly, without Christ, the image of God no one can see the invisible God.

“No man hath seen God at any time; but the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of God the Father, he hath declared him (John 1:18). Christ has shown us “the brightness of God's glory, and the express image of His person (Hebrew 1:3). But sin and unbelief turn God’s glorious countenance away from people. People suffer when God is not at peace with them (Psalm 30:7). “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked” (Isaiah 57:21). Moreover, “the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Dearly beloved, God’s promise to you this day is that He will make Himself visible to you through Christ our Lord.  You will receive His favour and peace as you please Him in faith and obedience. No matter the mistake of the past or present disfavoured condition, the Lord is faithful and gracious to turn the situation around for the humble and repentant soul. You will not be shamed but favoured. As David prayed, “Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies sake. Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee.” (Psalm 31:16,17). Pray in penitence and step out today in the light of divine countenance in Jesus' name. Amen!

Today’s Recite:  "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him." - Matthew 11:27 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayers:  Heavenly Father, I know you love me and I thank You for this. I repent of all sins that alienate me from seeing You. Grant me Your grace to see You. Empower me to always do things that You approve. Make Your glorious face shine upon my life and my path henceforth in Jesus' name. Grant me Your Favour and Peace. Amen!
