“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! - Luke 15:17
"Midlife Crisis" is a term connected to middle age: a period that has been found to start as early as age 35 to 60. Ageing itself, as well as changes, issues, or regrets related to work, career, finances, relationships, children, and the physical changes that come with getting older, can all contribute to a midlife crisis. People going through a midlife crisis frequently look for an unclear dream or objective. You can feel a great deal of regret over unfulfilled dreams. You could worry about looking foolish in front of your more accomplished coworkers. You often want to experience what it's like to be young. All of these things stem from a feeling that something is missing. When we understand the futility of much of what we used to pursue in life, there is, sadly to say, wisdom in midlife crises
Certain things, actions and inactions can make us to be stuck like the prodigal son. Disobedience and wasteful past years are definitely part of them. Living larger than income and savings, arrogance, pride and extravagant living may get one into crises. We are to be reminded that God owns and holds all the resources that can make us fulfil our set goals. "Without Him, we are nothing." But there are no limitations to what you can do through Christ when you swallow your pride and humble before Him.
Like the prodigal son and Zacchaeus, who came to themselves, admitting that your failure and retracing your steps is not a sign of weakness. It's crucial to remember that you may always ask for assistance, whether it's with something as straightforward as moving a load or as challenging as attempting to move on after a loss or setbacks in your career or financial life.
Beloved, it is time to swallow your pride. Arise, Shake yourself from the dust; …loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money (Isaiah 52:2-3). Repent every bit of disobedience and pride. Accept the chastisement if it comes your way. He whom the Father loves, He chastises. You are God’s beloved. Have faith and be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10). With God nothing is impossible. Finally, it is never too late to start afresh. The earlier you realise this the better.
Today’s Recite: Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (John 15:4).
Today’s Morning Prayer: My heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word again to me this morning. I confess my sins of pride and disobedience and accept Your chastisement. Grant me Your mercy and second chance sir. Revive me. Restore unto all I have lost to careless and senseless living. Redeem time for me. Grant Your strength. For in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen!
