SEEKING THE RIGHT LIFETIME COMPANION
"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up." - Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (KJV)
Marriage is one of life's most significant commitments, a covenant that intertwines two lives in a shared path of love, growth, and purpose. No age is too low to understand the importance of marriage and its sanctity. It is more than having a friend. It is having a worthy companion to navigate a lifetime journey through thick and thin with.
In seeking a soulmate, first, root your search in fervent prayer. Lay your desires before God and ask for wisdom and discernment to understand yourself and recognize the qualities of a compatible companion.
Secondly, know your own self. 2 Corinthians 13:5 says, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves”. Before you seek another, reflect upon your values to know who aligns with your core beliefs and visions, and can catalyse your personal growth.
Thirdly, seek emotional and spiritual maturity. Marriage is not for kids. Look for a partner who demonstrates maturity in facing life's challenges, cultivating inner peace, and pursuing spiritual health.
Prioritize character over charm. Charm (beauty) may attract, but character will endure. Seek a partner with virtues, integrity, humility, kindness, and resilience. Embrace patience. Be not hasty to say “I do”. Patience is not passive waiting; it's an active state of preparation. Use the waiting time time to grow, serve, and foster your own gifts.
Ensure, you involve a trusted community. Surround yourself with wise and trusted counsel who can offer unbiased opinions and support.
Lastly, dearly beloved, observe and understand various seasons. And as you end today's devotional, let the solace of the Almighty's presence fill your heart. Rest assured that as you commit your or a loved one's desires to God, He is working all things for your good.
Today’s Recite: "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2
Today’s Morning Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are the Source of love and the Author of divine connections. Guide me on this journey to find a partner with whom I can build a life that honours You. Grant me patience and teach me to trust in Your timing. May my heart be wise and my intentions pure as I seek the right companion You've prepared for me. Let Your love lead the way, now and always. Amen.
