NOVEMBER 14: HEREIN IS LOVE

Daily Companion  | 14 November

HEREIN IS LOVE

"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another." -  1 John 4:10-11

Saul was an injurious man, an enemy of the Cross, a persecutor of the saints. Yet Christ found him. Matthew was a corrupt tax collector who had brought untold hardships upon many households. He was a vile man before many. Yet Jesus loved and called him. John and James were violent and troublesome sons of Zebedee. They were known for public disturbance, nicknamed, sons of thunder. Hardly will a gentle soul be called such.

He loved them despite the fact that they were filthy, drunkards, and everything that was repulsive! Oh, this is such a wonder! God loved them even though they were dripping with sin and there was no sin too horrible or dark for them to do. Oh, never imagine that when you started to love Him, He started to love you too! However, the reason His love enveloped you, took you out of your sin, and created you as you are, is that He loved you quickly and fiercely when you were enjoying your sin. Well, for you dear friend, this is good news! Maybe you are still living in sin, just like all of today's and past saints used to be.

You have no idea why you stumbled upon today's devotional. But if you sit and pay attention, you can hear that God has loved you. Oh, that it would come to pass, that you would show yourself to be one of His chosen people, that He loves you despite your sin. And that He will continue to love you until you repent from your sin, turn to Christ, and receive forgiveness!

“Herein is love;” God loved the unlovely, the hateful, the vile, the depraved, and loved them though they loved not him. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Dearly beloved, please pray for it to be so. You can pray to God. Now, in quiet prayer, declare.

Today’s Morning Prayer: Oh Lord Jesus, I thank You for loving an undeserving soul like me. I accept Your love forever. Grant me the grace to love others as You have loved me. Lord, draw some of Thy chosen people to Christ today. Let some who never thought of You, but were bent on sinning rather than being brought to God, see Jesus and find salvation today. Amen!

Today’s Recite: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16
