GOOD UNTIL...

Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways. - Ezekiel 36:32

There is an adage from Yoruba, western Nigeria. Nǹkan kan ló ba àjào jẹ́, apá rẹ̀ gùn ju itan lọ. (Translated: The bat is discredited by one major flaw; its arms are longer than its thighs). The Bible catalogues men and women of faith that shook their world and stood to defend the faith and pursue righteousness. These “all obtained a good report" and were blameless until they erred in their on way either through excessiveness or overconfidence.

Noah was a great patriarch of faith but he “planted a vineyard: and he drank of the wine, and was drunken” (Genesis 9:21). David, the man after God’s heart, did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD...except only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite". (1 Kings 15:5). Moses was the most meek person on earth, yet, he “spake unadvisedly with his lips” (Psalm 106:32, 33). With all the great exploits of faith, Joshua allowed his “men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD” (Joshua 9:14, 15).  And God forgave them, "not for their own sakes but for God sakes". But they earned such mercy. Because even in their error they were not arrogant but humble. They were penitent. They didn't hide themselves nor make excuses for their mistakes like Adam.

Beloved, beware of overconfidence and excessiveness. “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. (1 Corinthians 10:12). To err is human but to repent is humility. Repent, retrace quickly before the windows of grace is closed. Don’t let your good be evil spoken of. Are you a leader, you don’t know it all but God does. Enquire from the Lord before taking that hasty decision. You can end this race without a scandal. Remember Lot's wife, Demas, Judas, Uzza and Saul.

Today’s Recite:  Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.(James 1:21).

Today’s Morning Prayers:  Heavenly Father I thank You for another exposition of Your grace today. I pray for Your mercy. I don't want any action or inaction tarnish Your image in me. Grant Your grace to stand and end my race without a scandal in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
