“The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee. The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give the peace.” (Numbers 6:25,26)
As one grew up under a disciplinarian parent, looking at the facial expression of our parents to confirm an approval or otherwise of an act is a skill you have to learn. Speechless facial countenance of the parent could mean a lot to a child whether he is in trouble or not. In the same manner our heavenly Father watches our actions and gives speechless approval and blessings for worthy actions of His children by directing His shining glory towards us. This means God is happy with you. This means you are favoured and the coast is clear for you.
“No man hath seen God at any time; but the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of God the Father, he hath declared him (John 1:18). Christ has shown us “the brightness of God's glory, and the express image of His person (Hebrew 1:3). But sin and unbelief turn God’s glorious countenance away from people. People suffer when God is not at peace with them (Psalm 30:7). “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked” (Isaiah 57:21). Moreover, “the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Dearly beloved, God’s promise to you this day is that you will receive His favour and peace as you please Him in faith and obedience. No matter mistake of the past or present disfavoured condition, the Lord is faithful and gracious to turn the situation around for you. You will not be shamed but favoured. As David prayed, “Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies sake. Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee.” (Psalm 31:16,17). Pray in penitence and step out today in the light of divine countenance in Jesus name. Amen!
