A TALE THAT IS TOLD

“We spend our years as a tale that is told.

 -  Psalm 90:9

An old man was telling his grandchildren moonlight stories some day. As he was narrating a particular story, which happened to be his own life story, one of the grandchildren suspected and asked, “Is this story about you, grandpa?” He was surprised that the little boy could suspect. He replied, “Yes it is. Aren’t our lives all full of tales?”.

Yes it is so true. Like the psalmist said, every life is a tale that is told. The life you live today is a story for others to either learn or run away from. For believers, Paul described such as “an epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men” (2 Corinthians 3:2). Your good deeds or otherwise are being recorded in the space of time by all around. From childhood to adulthood, from peer groups to neighbourhood, your life is a story witnessed by wide range of witnesses.

As a youth, both your peers and others are watching you. It will surprise you that the things that you do and thought are secrets are bare before others. As parents, your children read your lives like books. As leaders, your followers watch your deeds closely. Above all, heaven also records your deeds. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ”“Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” (Revelation 14:13).

Beloved, if you want men to tell or read good tales about you, live a worthy and godly life. What has your tale been? Has it been a sinful and shameful stories of immoralities, lies and drunkenness? It doesn't cost much to start afresh today. Has yours been a hypocritical one? Start living true. Repent and accept Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour.

Today’s Recite:

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1)

Today’s Morning Prayers:  O God I come to You with my life today. Refine it. Redeem it to a worthy and godly life full of good tales to be told by men. I lay aside every hypocrisy, sinful and shameful acts. Grant me Your grace to always do good and serve You all the days of my life in Jesus name. Amen!
