REFLECTION IS AN ACT OF MEDITATION

...Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide. Genesis 24:63

Meditation is an act of thinking deeply on words, something, or issue. It is to reflect critically on a matter of interest to you, with God. Meditation is solely done in your heart. It is a thinking process. David said, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD (Psalm 19:14). Reflection could pick an area in your career, family, business or more importantly your relationship with God.

Meditation is important in helping us to draw a reasonable conclusion; find a solution or better way of doing things. For instance, in Psalm 8:3, a meditation takes place here. “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained…” The reflection helped the psalmist to draw a conclusion that follows: “what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” (Psalm 8:4). This brought him a new perspective. Meditation helps you to be a better and deeper person.

The process of meditation involves finding a quiet place first. Isaac left the house to a quiet field to avoid distractions. Some people have the luxury of a study room in their house or bedroom. Anytime of the day that is convenient for you can be adopted. Isaac chose evening. David had his in the bedroom early morning and late at night (Psalm 63:5, 6). What is more important is the consistency. Meditation is not a one-off thing but a practice that improves you with experience. Mediation must be continual and constituent. The second step is to identify what to mediate on it. It could be a focal verse from the bible or topical passage. Look for lessons learnt. Consider what can be done better and draw a simple conclusion. Conclusion drawn helps you do things better in addition to knowing better.

Beloved, the benefits of mediations are enormous. It brings blessings upon you (Psalm 1:1, 2). It makes you a wiser thinker. It helps you to know God and relate with him better. You receive inspiration for innovation in your career and business. Start the act of meditating today and you shall see a better you.

Today’s Recite: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:8)

Today’s Morning Prayer: Lord, I thank You for today. I receive Your grace to always engage in the act of meditation. Help me to be a better and wiser person in Jesus’ name.
