Bible Passage: 2 Corinthians 6:11-17

COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM!

Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing.  2 Corinthians  6:17

Like our current society, Corinth was deeply rooted in idolatry, social vices, and immoralities. The gospel of repentance brought a number of them converted but many remained in their sinful and idolatrous ways. A distinction has to be made. A separation is inevitable. Having relationship with the unsaved and immoral fellows is sinful for believers.

“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” The word ‘unbelievers’ includes everyone devoid of the true faith “that was once delivered to the saints.” Every godly pastor will warn their cherished converts in the faith not to partner with unbelievers. Neglecting this marriage-related Scriptural teachings has catastrophic consequences. If allowed, such union brings a ‘hell meat’ rather than help meet. When Christians enter into such unions in defiance to God's explicit warnings, they must then prepare themselves for consequent misery. This warning also includes everyday conversations with unbelievers. Even though we can't completely avoid them, we should never choose unbelievers as companions. I am a companion of all of them that fear thee, and …keep thy precepts (Psalms 119:63). We must avoid defiling ourselves by companying with defilers.

My dear friend, have you just been saved? Or are you in any relationship with an unbeliever already? The Lord says, Come out from among them, and be ye separate! Are you in possession of their gifts or property? Return or destroy them, “So, none of the accursed things shall remain in your hand” (Deuteronomy 13:17). Leave the sinners and their immoral pursuits behind. You are now a prince and princess with God. If it is enviable to be a prince or princess of earthly king, how much more magnificence and delight would it be to be called the sons and daughters of the Almighty God, the King of kings!

Today’s Recite: The grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Titus 2:11-12

Today’s Morning Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank for saving me. I renounce all ungodly relationships. Grant me Your grace for restitution. Keep me undefiled. Keep me in Your heavenly dignity and magnificence in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

Today’s Hymn: DRAW ME NEARER
