Bible Passage: Deuteronomy 9:20-29
‘Go up and possess the land which I have given you,’ then you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and you did not believe Him nor obey His voice. Deuteronomy 9:23 (NKJV)
A brilliant lad started performing poorly in school after a lazy drop-out neighbour continued to talk him into dropping out too. A wife planned to divorce her husband because she has been listening to her divorcee friend. Who have you been talking to? Who do you listen to? Who do you believe?
Like the children of Israel, people generally often choose whom and what to believe. You believe more and obey whom you frequently communicate with. Who you believe has strong influence on your personality, your perspective, and your progress in life. They either make, mar, or stagnate you and affect your relationship with God and people. “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “LORD, who has believed our report?” (Romans 10:16).
After passing through a series of hard times and disappointments with false prophets and fake pastors, choosing to believe the true Gospel or anyone else may prove hard. If you only believe God exists, then you are not better than demons who believe God exists too and even tremble (James 2:19). God is more than existing; He is a Rewarder of those who seek to obey His word.
Therefore, your frequent communication with God will shape the direction and strength of your faith. Paul said …for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day (2 Timothy 1:12).
Beloved, if you will succeed in life, you need to be careful of who you listen to or read from. To increase your faith in God, listen more to Him, and you will see yourself obey Him and prosper (2 Chronicles 20:20). God is your Maker, He knows your past, present, future and what’s best for You. You have to start listening to God. The easiest and unambiguous way He speaks is through the Scripture, the Bible, His Word. So, then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:16-17).
Today’s Recite: He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore, you do not hear, because you are not of God.” (John 8:45-47).
Today’s Morning Prayer: O Lord God, I come to you this morning ready to start a relationship with You afresh. I leave my past, present and future at Your feet. I’m willing to hear and obey You. O God, Help me for I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
