CHRIST COMPANIONS

“I am a companion of all who fear You, and of those who keep Your precepts. - Psalms 119:63 (NKJV)

It was the longest interaction yet it appeared to be the shortest in the eyes of the apostles when the Lord Jesus Christ communed with them at the last supper. He had demonstrated what true love and friendship truly meant. “You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants... but I have called you friends...” (John 15:14,15). He kept a companionship with the apostles so close and strong that it was difficult to distinguish him from them physically. A task Judas Iscariot had to be bribed to unravel.

A companion is one who serves as a friend or partner. Whether it's travel, chatting, dining, playing, or exercising, a companion is the one with whom you do them with. This was exactly what Jesus was to disciples and by extension to everyone who would like to keep company with Him. Like the disciples, Christ companions are recognised by their uniqueness yet inseparable in love and selflessness. Christ enjoys interacting with His companions face-to-face not at distance, as “the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.” (Exodus 33:11).

Christ loves His companions sharing most of their time with Him: working together, travelling together, and even eating together. You can never feel any loneliness with Christ.

Dear friend, do you feel lonely, or abandoned? You may have been deserted by family members, friends, or associates. You may feel abandoned in your social or financial mess. You may have become a castaway, even from your own castle. You may have become a target for bullying and no one wants to keep company with you. But here today is “a friend that sticketh closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24). His name is Jesus Christ. He stands at the door now, knocking for you to let him in.

He is ever willing to make you His companion. But He needs your sincerity and trust too. He needs your loyalty and unwavering faith in Him. He wants you to listen to Him as much as you want Him to listen to you. He is only a companion with them that fear God, not His betrayer.

Today’s Recite: “Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” - James 2:23 (KJV)

Today’s Morning Prayer: O Lord Jesus I thank You for always willing to keep my company. The door of my heart and life is opened to You today. I want to do many things with You; work with You, dine with You, travel with You - do the Father's business with You. May Your companionship bring unending joy, peace and prosperity to my life. Amen!
