What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? -Romans 6:1 -2.
A family had just moved to a new house. However, they began to receive letters belonging to the former occupants of their new residence. So, they asked their new landlord what they should do to those mails. Simply write "'NO LONGER IN THIS ADDRESS" on them and drop them in the post collection box near you to return them back to the sender' the landlord replied.
When as a sinner you are saved from sin, you practically vacate a house of sin and moved into a new home occupied with God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. When the former sinful habits come knocking, you need to send them back to the sender, 'no longer in this address'. If anyone is in Christ, former things have passed away, behold all things become new. In a genuine change of landlord, your new landlord is Jesus Christ, not Satan or sin.
Without Christ, to abandon sin and embrace righteousness could be difficult to some. And this is the exact purpose Jesus came to make it easy for you to forsake and be free from sins. Be strong in your "NO" to sin. To Satan, temptation to lie, and your sinner friends, say, no longer in this adress.
Beloved, remember, no sinner shall make heaven but they that have been washed by the Lamb’s blood and written in the Lamb's book of life (Revelation 21:27). To abandon your habitual sinful life, you need an encounter with Jesus. To be assured of genuine salvation, you need to go and “sin no more”. Remove everything linked to your old sinful life including gifts. Be free. Being truly born-again is an empowerment for righteous living. Begin to live that new righteous life of freedom today. Ask Jesus now for the power and grace to sin no more.
