"Let your heart therefore be loyal to the LORD our God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as at this day.” - 1 Kings 8:61
A young pastor was on a first class flight. It was complimentary to serve drinks to the first class passengers. The hostess brought a branded wisky to the young man but he refused. The hostess thought he didnt like the manner of presentation. She went back to pick a more expensive wine, decorated it and offer it again to the young man but he still refused. Then the hostesss was worried and pleaded, “Please sir just have a taste maybe you will like it”. “ The young man replied, I will only taste it, if you offer the pilot to taste first”. She replied, “Sir, the pilot is on duty and tasting alcohol will make him violate the pilots’ ethics code”. Then the pastor replied her, “I am a christian, a pastor and am always on duty 24/7. Drinking alcohol will make me violate my God’s code of ehtics.”
Loyalty is a strong unwavering attachment to a position (office), principle (law) or personality (people) even when not being watched. Like the young pastor, daily we are faced with juicy offers to test our loyalty to God. Sexual, power, monetary or even dietary enticements are laid before us to make us betray our loyalty to our spouse, family, organization and above all, our God. Portiphars wiife seductons could not break Joseph loyalty to God (Genesis 39). Like the young pastor on the flight, Rechab grandchildren refused to break an agelong family tenets. They refused to taste alcoholic wine when challenged by constituted authority (Jeremiah 35).
Everyone hates being betrayed, so does God. It is treacherous to have any other god beside God. “Thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. (Exodus 34:14). “Serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts. (1 Chronicles 28:9).
Today’s Recite: "“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul”. - Deuteronomy 10:12 (NKJV)
Today’s Morning Prayer: Oh God I thank You for another new day of grace to love You. I pledge my allegiance to You and Your cause on earth. I renounce any acto of disloyalty to family, your church and You. I rededicate my life to You and ask in return that You bless the works of my hands in Jesus name I pray. Amen!
