June 17: A HUMBLE START

A HUMBLE START

You will save the humble people; But Your eyes are on the haughty, that You may bring them down. - 2 Samuel 22:28

In a sprint race, the perfect start is often kneeling down, head bowed below the hips. This is a rule for all sprinters and any deviation may lead to disqualification or poor performance. It is an imposed humble beginning rule for all competitiors, yet the fastest runners in the world (that will take the crown) are often the ones who do the humble begining best.

Humility is not just a mere admonition but a demand from God. God requires that you are humble so He can elevate you. "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up" (James 4:10). And even when you are promoted God wants you to remain humble in service. "Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave" (Matthew 20:26,27).

Dear friend, dont be like the Mayans' Toh bird, lazy, proud and ill-mannered which like giving orders, being praised or honoured but cannot stoop low to serve others with humility.  Apostle Paul said, If a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself (Galatians 6:3). I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man.... not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly. (Romans 12:3).

Are you presented with a low-start opportunity in job or business? Do not despise the small and humble beginning, for the Lord will promote you in due time (Zachariah 4:10). Are you a leader or at a command level already, be a servant to all. Are you called into the ministry? Serve the Lord with all humility of mind (Acts 20:19). God's salvation and promotion are to the humble.

Today’s Recite: And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. (Matthew 23:12).

Today’s Morning Prayer:

  • O God, I Thank You for another new day. Thank You for today’s lesson. Grant me Your grace to be humble.
  • Remove every trait of laziness, pride and arrogance from me. Help me to be useful and helpful to others.
  • Wherever I find myself today, let me be a positive impact to others. Bless the work of my hand. For ask all in Jesus mighty name. Amen
