RUN FOR THE CROWN

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. (1 Corinthians 9:24)

Life is a competition. The earlier you realize this the better. Everything in life is about competition. Before your conception, you ran against millions of potential souls and came first. If you were born a twin, there must have been a tie. Against threats to your survival after conception, to your birth and childhood, you have continued to compete. Your current position is the result of series of competitions since birth. This is because everytime you apply for a job, you are on a competition. Everytime you write an exam, you compete with others. Even after securing a job, you run to keep your job or you risk redundancy or stagnancy.  The question is, are you the winner you are born to be?

Beloved, life is not to just to be lived, it is to be won, to conquer and to be crowned. Your competitors are not sleeping. They too want to win but one must recieve the prize. So, you must run to obtain the crown. Some may contend with you just make you lose, not that they are interested in winning themselves. But you make it easy for them when you are not running at your maximum speed. And make no mistake, competition is not comparison. Those who compare themselves with others are not wise but mediocres, cowards and it breeds envy and jealousy (2 Corinthians 10:12). A true winner is unique and distinct from others, and so are you.

While racing to top your class, win a job or contract, get a better income and better life, you must not forget that there’s a constant race that transcends this world to the life beyond. And that competition is to obtain an everlasting crown; to have your name written and kept in the book of life; and to win a mansion in heaven.  Dear friend, winning is not an easy adventure, and it requires your dedication, diligence and determination. It requires, patience and humility, "burning the night candles". You will have to “discipline your body and bring it under subjection”  (1 Corinthians 9:27). Temptation to relax and distraction to compromise will come but you are to resist them. Your eyes must be on the crown at all times. You can do it. Have faith in God and also in yourself. Now, Run for the crown.

Today’s Recite: "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead." - Philippians 3:13

Today’s Morning Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank you for a new day and a new month. I Pray for a winning spirit and zeal to obtain the best position in this life and beyond. Grant me the appetite for success. Grant oh Lord power and strength to run. I ask for grace to shun all distrations. I shall receive the crown in Jesus name I pray. Amen!
