THE CURSE CALLED SIN

Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children... - 2 Peter 2:14

Sin is not just an ordinary immoral act. it is a curse and a masculine lurking demon. In fact its first mention in humanity was personified. "...sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him" (Genesis 4:7). But what made it a curse is its propensity to make it to be passed from generation to generation; father to son, mother to daughter. Sin is a generational curse that all must be free from. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Do you have an habit, immoral one that you have been struggling with and you seem not cease from doing it? You seem not to rule over it. It controls you. The more you try to stop it (him), the more it (he) keeps coming. It is the curse called sin. Sin carries eternal capital offense (death) that can only be remitted by the sacrifice of blood. Despite shedding of blood of uncountable animals, yet God was still not dissuaded, men and women alike could not cease from sinning.

A sinless blood, without any blemish, has to be sacrificed to appease the power of God’s anger against curse of sin. "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." (1 John 3:8).

God said “Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4). But all glory to Jesus Christ who "hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us." (Galatians 3:13). So it is not suprising to see God turn His face against Christ at the cross because of the curse of sin till such a moment when Christ said, "it is finished! The task is accomplished and now you can claim freedom from sin.

Dear friend, there are two options before you today: you may continue under this curse and face God’s wrath at judgement day, or you run to Christ now and be saved by the amazing grace. I beseech you seek God's grace by repenting this day so that the time of refreshing and deliverance can come from the Lord. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus (Roman 8:1). Amen!

Today’s Recite: Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1).

Today’s Morning Prayers:  Oh Lord God, I thank You for Jesus Christ who died for my sin. I cherish your sacrifice for me. I come to you with the curse of sin and ask You to save me from it. Save me Lord. I recieve Your grace to sin no more. Keep me away from sin and Your wrath in Jesus name. Amen!
