BIBLE PASSAGE: Proverb 4:1-10
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:and with all thy getting get understanding. - Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)
Solomon is adjudged one of the wisest men ever lived. The passage above is an admonition of Solomon to his son on the value of wisdom in life.
Wisdom is the body of knowledge, quality of having experience, and good judgement; the quality of being wise. When someone speaks and the listeners are astonished, some amazing words must have been expressed. Such words are also called words of wisdom.
At several occasions, our Lord Jesus Christ expressed wisdom in His several parables and the need for the disciples to acpuire same. For instance, in Matthew chapter 12, a conversation occurred between Christ and the Pharisees about what was lawful to do on the sabbath day. It was a pivotal encounter because it revealed Christ as the Lord over sabbath.
Wisdom offers you the appropriate, astonishing, amazing, excellent responses to query, challenge, critics and problems. It offers helpful enlightenment with clarity and without ambiguity. It is pure, peaceable, void of offense. Conversely, the words of fools bring strife, schism, and confusion. The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool..swallow up himself …mischievous madness, …wearieth everyone (Ecclesiastes 10:12-15).
Here is the interesting part, wisdom has great enemies called carnality, self, flesh. Carnality and flesh cloud voice of reason and such a person becomes unwise and could be called a fool when sin of immorality takes a toil on his life.
Dear friend, what type of words come from your mouth, when provoked, queried, or consulted for counselling? As a Christian, businessperson, student, parents, leaders and managers, you need widom. According to our focal verse today, Wisdom is a free gift of the Spirit: but you will need to first be born-again, desire the gift of wisdom, ask in faith.

Today’s Morning Prayer: Heavenly Father I ask that I may be filled with the words of wisdom and knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of You Lord, fully pleasing You, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to You in Jesus mighty name in whom I have redemption through His blood, and forgiveness of my sins. Amen!
