For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.Though it tarries, wait for it;Because it will surely come,It will not tarry. - Habakkuk 2:3
Anticipating some good news; awaiting a successful application response; expecting a promotion; awaiting the fruit of the womb, or even delivery of a baby could throw our hearts into palpitations. But do you know, while you wait, God is working. Although we may not notice any changes while we wait, especially during the trying times.
Instead of just waiting, why can't you wait on the Lord in prayer? Waiting on the Lord is expressed through absolute trust and confidence in God. This kind of trust dispels fear and anxiety. Waiting on the Lord entails having hope, patience, and expectation in God’s ability to do all things. We wait on the Lord to provide for our needs, to reveal His glory, to deliver and to renew our strength.
God is able to see and fix the creases and messes that would persist in our lives if it weren't for the periods of waiting. David was anointed king as a teenager but crowned king at the appointed time. “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry” (Psalm 40:1). Abraham waited for 25 years for the promise of a child to be fulfilled. “Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised” (Hebrews 6:15).
Beloved, whether it be in your personal life or the world around you, whatever be the waiting time, it worth it. Don’t be idle, wait on the Lord in prayer, but be patient and courageous. Waiting on the Lord brings: (i) God’s blessings Isaiah 64:4, (ii) Renewal of strength. We need to wait on the Lord from time to time to renew strength during challenges. (Isaiah 40:31) (iii) Answers to prayers (1 John 5:14). (iv) Perfection. He hath made every thing beautiful in his time…(Ecclesiastes 3:11).
