FLEE FROM IDOLS

"Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry." - 1 Corinthians 10:14

God is not a stone or gold, paper or poster but like us. He created you in His own image, …male and female He created us (Genesis 1:27). If you are not a stone, wood, or object, then your God is not. God proved to us His image in the flesh as Jesus Christ; conceived by the Holy Ghost; lived among men. 

Idol worshippers however set up materials (wood, stone, metal, clay, any man-made items) or an object as their god – the creator. This, Paul, pointed out in Acts chapter 17 as ignorance. And this ignorance reflects the foolishness in idolaters. It is more of foolishness to think you are an offspring or a creature of a tree or stone. 

As the world continues to advance with technology, idolatry is becoming modernised too. The technological devices you enjoy may gradually become objects of attractions to your heart. And little by little, obsession may set in and it becomes a demonised idol in the heart. This leads to spending most of your time with it. It takes away your productive life, controlling you rather than you controlling it. It becomes an addiction. You are to flee it before this occurs. If any object or device is useful, utilise it but flee it afterwards. For instance, if you need to read using a device, after using it to read, Flee from it to other tasks of the day.  

Beloved, no idol should lord over you. But to be in control, genuine salvation and sanctification of the heart will be required to free the heart from idols. Then every object of idolaty must be removed out of sight. You are "God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,…to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 2:4, 5,10; Romans 8:29). He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. (Revelation 21:7). Be an overcomer, flee idols.

Today’s Morning Prayer: My God and heavenly Father I thank You for today’s revelation. Forgive me of any sin of idolatry. I renounce any form of idol in my life. I am Your offspring. I’m Your image. I’m a child of the Most High God. I receive Your grace and power to flee all idols and to rule the world henceforth in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
