"And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward." - Luke 16:2
The psalmist says, “The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” (Psalms 24:1). Everything we possess belongs to God; we only have the temporary right to utilise it as directed by and for the glory of our great Lord.
The assets of this steward's Lord in Luke 16 read in our Bible passage yesterday were plundered. And we are all guilty of the same offence since we did not properly manage the things God committed to us. That steward had to make up his accounts and leave because he could not dispute it. This could serve as a lesson that death will come and take away the chances that we currently have if we dont give proper account of our stewardship now!
Contrary to what you probably once knew, you don’t have to wait till the judgment day before making audit of yourself. FIrst, examine yourself whether you are even in the faith. Have forsaken the world and its sin to follow Christ? Are washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you daily walking by the Saviour side? Secondly, judge yourself if found wanting so you won’t have to be judged. Give account now to “Him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead” at the final White Throne Judgment (1 Peter 4:5).
Dearly, have you been true to your own promises and allegiance to the Master? Have you been true to the great commission? Do you just plunder God’s resources at the expense of souls periching daily? All the monies you have ever received so far in your lifetime, how much has been spent on the Master cause? Of all the time available to you since you knew your right from left, how long have you spent in the Lord’s business? This week how many hours have you spent in God’s work at the expense of your personal pursuit? Give acount now!
Have you been loyal to Him or do you secretly do His enemies bids? Give account now before the doors of opportunities to do so is closed by termination of your life here on earth. Repent and restitute today. Arise to please God by doing His bids as commanded and it shall be well with you, even as the eternal rewards of a faithful servant awaits you.
Today’s Recite:
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” - 2 Corinthians 5:10
Today’s Morning Prayers: O God I thank You for the opportunity to give account now and judge myself before I'm judged. I repent of mismangement of time and resources You have given me. I need Your grace from this day onward never to lose focus on Your cause here on earth. I need strength and more resources to serve You. Keep me holy as I serve You faithfully in Jesus name. Amen!
