 “A SINNER RUNNING FROM SIN”

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (I Thessalonians 5:23).

The story was told of a young girl who accepted Christ as her Saviour and decided to join a local church. The following conversation took place at interview by an old deacon of the church.

Deacon: "Were you a sinner before you received the Lord Jesus into your Life?"

Girl: "Yes, sir,"

Deacon: "Well, are you still a sinner?"

Girl: "To tell you the truth, I feel I'm a greater sinner than ever."

Deacon: "Then what real change have you experienced?"

Girl: "I don't quite know how to explain it, except I used to be a sinner running after sin, but now that I am saved. I'm a sinner running from sin!"

Like the sincere young girl, the hallmark of genuine salvation is to stop ‘running after sin’ but start running from sin” to keep you blameless. However, the nature of sin (lying, fornication, stealing, anger etc) still need be dealt with. In order to stop sin from putting you into flight and fight, you must be sanctified. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication (1 Thessalonians 4:3). Sanctification is an experience or process of complete freedom from all urge to sin. It cleanses from sinful habits. Good news is that Christ has prayed for you, Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth (John 17:17). Christ loved the church, and gave himself for it ...that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:25, 27).

Are you a "sinner running after sin"? You must first be converted. Are you saved but "running from sin", you need to embrace God’s word that you can be holy and then, pray God to sanctify you completely Then you shall be holy and blameless. Daily read God's word and believe it.
