January 31: THE GOOD FIGHT

Daily Companion  |  31 January

THE GOOD FIGHT

And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand. (Joshua 10:19)

Have you heard of the martial laws? Martial law is typically imposed during times of war, uprising, or natural disaster and entails the temporary substitution of military authority for civilian administration. The military commander of a region or nation has unrestricted power.

The Above scenario is applicable to spiritual war. Under the command of Joshua in our focal verse, Joshua chapter 10, the enemies were pursued and executed. Today, similar fights are undertaken spiritually. For we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against principalities, …powers, …rulers of the darkness, …against spiritual hosts of wickedness…(Ephesians 6:12).

When the enemies threaten your territory, your peace and your existence, you evoke the martial law. You fight without sentimentality or mercy. This is a good fight; a necessary and God-approved fight and a fight to finish.   It is suicidal to be complacent or leave the fight uncompleted. God warned us, if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you;... those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall trouble you in the land in which ye dwell (Number 33:35).

Dear comrades, fight the good fight of faith with appropriate weapons, not in the flesh, not physical. Physical fights are bad and unacceptable to true believers. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God (2 Corinthians 10:4).  For if you fight according to the flesh, ye may die in the battle.

Therefore, fight a good fight against the enemies of your soul and success. Take up the whole armour of God, which includes the truth, righteousness; the gospel of peace; faith, your salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. Ephesians 6:13-18.

Today’s Recite: Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

Today’s Morning Prayers: Oh Lord, I thank You for Your armour which have made ready for me. I take up Your whole armour, not mine. Grant me the power and authority needed to fight the good fight. Help me to be truthful. Grant me grace to carry the gospel of peace about to fight for others. Empower me with Your sword. I therefore refuse to back out in this fight in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Today’s Hymn: Hold The Fort
