Sparrows are small birds that originated from the Middle East region and mostly lived around humans. It is therefore no secret why Jesus frequently referred to this creature in His teachings. Sparrows have some great attributes. They adapt so easily to any condition, and hence have strong immunity. Despite their vulnerability and exposure to many predators, sparrows fear no alarms and are still preserved. They don’t feel restricted: from prison to palace; from a manger to mansions. Above all, sparrows have been labelled an opportunistic animal because they seize every opportunity at their disposals.
Dear friend, learn from the sparrows. You are better off. If they are fed by providence, you are better off. Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. Matt. 6:31,32.
Like sparrows, in your career, calling be ambitious. At every job or business opening, seize the opportunity. When you find a suitable place, adapt, carry on, contend, and conquer. You are better off than sparrows.
Beloved, are you afraid of your today or tomorrow? How is it that you have no faith?” Two things are required from you.
Firstly, fear nothing but God. O fear the LORD, ye his Saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. …they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing (Psalm 34:9, 10). Refuse to be intimidated by the giants and predators around you. Be bold, be confident. Be conscientious. Don't be a victim but a victor.
Secondly, have faith in God (Mark 11:22). Remember God’s promises. No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee (Psalm 84:11, 12).
Finally, dear friend, be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6).
Today’s Morning Prayers: Heavenly Father I thank You for creating me better off than a sparrow. From this day, I seize every opportunity that comes my way. Grant me grace to excel in my career and calling. Oh Lord, Arise against every giant and predator on my way of progress. I possess every good thing I desire for me, and my family in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
