January 14: A LAND OF ALL THINGS

Daily Companion  |  14 January

A LAND OF ALL THINGS

…A large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of anything that ison the earth. Judges 18:10

Some time ago, a migrating clan was looking for a place to dwell as their permanent abode. They appointed few men to search out a place good enough to meet their aspirations and comfort. Fortunately, they were able to get a place they considered suitable enough for them. But it wouldn’t be an easy ride. They had to fight for it. They fought, conquered, and finally settled in. Indeed, it was a good land for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, a land of all things.

The land of all things as described above does not only refer to a specific place like that of Israel but a state of life, aspirations, dreams that we desire to experience or possess. As the Psalmist affirms ‘’Happy is that people that is in such a case’’ (Psalm 144:15). God wants us to be happy and sufficient in all things. 2 Corinthians 3:15.

To the tribe of Dan, the story above underscores the usual adage, ‘’he who eats last, eats the best.’’ This is because the tribe of Dan was the last to inherit their portion in the promised land after waiting for so long. “…for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel (Judges 18:1). Dear companion, have you seen others counting their gold and silver, and you keep wondering when will yours start? Don’t fret. Let the search begin, fight if you have to, conquer, and possess your portion like the Danites did in their time.

But to enjoy the full privileges placed at our disposal, sinners need repent; backsliders must need return home while the standing believers contend earnestly and continue in the faith that was once delivered unto the saints of old. However, after all said and done, we are also warned not to forget God. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Today’s Recite: “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” - Numbers 13:30.

Today’s Morning Prayer: (i) Thank you Lord because I have a special place reserved for me. (ii) Lord, open my eyes to discover my land of all things. (iii) I receive the courage to go up and possess it in Jesus’ name. (iv) I declare complete destruction on all obstruction in Jesus name, (v) Lord, by mercy I will not miss the second place of all things (heaven) in Jesus name.

Today’s Hymn: There Shall Be Shower Of Blessings

Today’s Read Me: Genesis 41-42
