Feb 9: BE OF GOOD COMFORT

Daily Companion | 9 February

BE OF GOOD COMFORT

Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. Isaiah 60:20.

Since the fall of man in the garden of Eden, troubles, temptations, trials and tribulations have become daily recurrences. In some parts of the world, floods ravage farmlands and abodes. In some other climes, it is war, earthquakes, or pestilence. But you may wonder when will all these end? Or when shall we be living in bliss and no more experience harsh weather nor mourn over our loved ones again?

First and foremost, God did not plan these for you and me. But sin and disobedience of man brought these consequences. Every action has its result. However, for since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:21). God has prepared to return us back to the Paradise: the original place of bliss and delight. Where Jesus has gone to prepare a place for you and He said “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” When He will swallow up death in victory; and the LORD God will wipe away tears from off all faces…(Isaiah 25:8). Where you shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun scorch you (Revelation 7:16). and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21:4)

Therefore, beloved, be of good comfort. Our hope in Christ is not only in this world. Paradise is the ultimate, not a fiction but a reality. Because, if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. (1 Corinthians 15:19). God confirmed this by giving us some tastes of the paradise by the miracles and wonders we see daily.  But sin is a reproach. Accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour today to qualify for the paradise.

Today’s Recite: In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayer: O Jesus, we thank You that You have lived this human life of ours and You were tempted in all points like as we are. Help us today, O Jesus, to overcome in every temptation. Stand by us. Let us not sink away into the darkness of eternal death, in any hour of temptation. Oh Lord, help us in our sorrows and battle of life to hold the fort. Give us the true comfort, and may we grow stronger and sweeter in affliction in Your precious name, Jesus our Saviour. Amen.
