WAIT ON THE LORD

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.  Psalm 27:14

We wait a lot of the time: sitting or standing in a queue; anticipating news; awaiting an application response; expecting a promotion; awaiting the fruit of the womb, or even delivery of a baby etc. While we wait, God is working. Although we may not notice any changes while we wait, especially during the trying times.

Waiting on the Lord is expressed through absolute trust and confidence in God. This kind of trust dispels fear and anxiety. Waiting on the Lord entails having hope, patience, and expectation in God’s ability to do all things. We wait on the Lord to provide for our needs, to reveal His glory, to deliver and to renew our strength.

God is able to see and fix the creases and messes that would persist in our lives if it weren't for the periods of waiting. David was anointed king as a teenager but crowned king at the appointed time. “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry” (Psalm 40:1). Abraham waited for 25 years for the promise of a child to be fulfilledThen Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised” (Hebrews 6:15). Our Lord Jesus Christ to teach us the importance of waiting, did not begin His ministry until the age 30.  But at the appointed time “...the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form..” (Luke 3:21-23). Joseph waited in prison for a purpose“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good…to save many people’s lives.” (Genesis 50:20).

Beloved, here are some words of encouragement for you, whether it be in your personal life or the world around you, whatever be the waiting time, it is worth it. Don’t be idle, wait on the Lord in prayer, patience and courage. Waiting on the Lord brings: (i) God’s blessings Isaiah 64:4, (ii) Renewal of strength. We need to wait on the Lord from time to time to renew strength during challenges.  (Isaiah 40:31) (iii) Answers to prayers (1 John 5:14). (iv) Perfection. He hath made every thing beautiful in his time…(Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Today’s Recite: Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee. (Proverbs 20:22)

Today’s Morning Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for another day. Grant the grace to patiently wait on You for my needs and strength. May Your awaited promises come to pass in my life, family and country in Jesus mighty name.  Amen
