GO, AND SIN NO MORE
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? -Romans 6:1 (KJV)
A woman was caught in adultery and the customary law was for her to be stoned to death. Her accusers in attempt to accuse and ridicule Jesus Christ, asked him, “But what sayest thou?” They made a huge mistake by playing into Jesus’ hands. But Jesus Christ, at first, pretended as if He didn’t hear but then they continued asking. And then Jesus answered, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” One by one, being convicted by their own conscience, the accusers all left. Jesus then asked the woman, “hath no man condemned thee?” She said, “No man, Lord.” And Jesus said unto her, “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
What an amazing grace! Grace has been defined as the free and unmerited kindness of God shown to mankind as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings. However, grace goes beyond just ‘go’: the bestowal of forgiveness. More, importantly is the ‘sin no more’ part.
It does not cost much to forgive sin, but it costs a lot to forsake sin. “whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). Without Christ, to abandon sin and embrace righteousness is harder. And this is the exact reason Jesus came to the world to make it easy for you to forsake and be free from sins.
Beloved, to abandon your habitual sinful life, you need an encounter with Jesus like this woman. To be assured of genuine salvation, you need to hear the second part: “sin no more”. It is not an order to start struggling with sin but an empowerment for righteous living. Make no mistake, no sinner shall go to heaven but they that have been washed by the Lamb’s blood and written in the Lamb's book of life (Revelation 21:27). Weep in penitence and ask Jesus for the power to sin no more today.

Today’s Morning Prayer: Oh Lord I come to you today with my burden of sin. Forgive me and grant me Your grace to sin no more. Bestow upon me Your righteousness. Redeem me completely and prepare me for Your mansion in heaven. For in Jesus name, I pray. Amen
