A.S.K God
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7, 8
One day, a man’s nephew came visiting asked, “Uncle James, can you give me that your bicycle?” Oh yes, take it because I rarely use it anymore”, he said. That evening his own son was so angry with him. “Dad, that bicycle should have been mine. His dad replied, “Son, but you never asked”.
Like the man’s son, so are we before our heavenly Father who has great riches in His treasure house. Our Lord Jesus in our key verse today, teaches us the three components of praying to God using the acronym A.S.K. We are to Ask God for anything we see and seem beneficial to us. We are to Seek Him to find us opportunities that seem difficult to see. We are to Knock the door of blessings to receive unprecedent blessings and miracles. And there is a constant assurance that he will always answer.
Beloved, have you asked and not received?
(i) God heareth not a sinner unless he first repents. "Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth" (John 9:31).
(ii) He only answers when it is according to His will and not for selfish purpose to harm or oppress others. “This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us” (1 John 5:14). James 4:3 says. “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures”.
(iii) Without faith, it is difficult to receive from God. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). A.S.K must be our daily habit of communicating to God. Never go out of the house without ASKing.
Today’s Recite: Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full (John 16:24)
Today’s Morning Prayer: My Heavenly Father, I Pray for the reader of this daily devotion today. May the LORD bless thee and keep thee. The LORD make His face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee: May the LORD lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace and grant you that which you ASK Him this day in Jesus’ name. Amen
