REWARDS FOR THE WAITING SOWER

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:5, 6.

The harvest time is a time every farmer often looks forward to; just as employees look forward to their payday. At such times, smile-beaming faces are all you see. The harvest time or the payday is a product of sowing and labour. Between the sowing time and harvest is a waiting time. The waiting time is inevitable though may seem so prolong for certain reasons, but growth and increase happen during the waiting time.

Sowing is not a time of pleasure or comfort. It is rather a time of sweat and tears. For the farmer, it is beyond planting. It involves caring for the crops until maturity. For employees or business owners, it is beyond procurement but efforts on sales and marketing strategies. For those sowing in the education, it takes years of academic labour and burning the night candles. The book of Hebrews says, Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest [the harvest]… (Hebrew 4:11).

Interestigly, when you sow, you do not sow that body of the plant that would be, you only sow a mere seed or grain. But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body (1 Corinthians 15:37-38). Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us (Psalms 67:6).

Beloved, the waiting time is most critical stage because it is when God works. You invite and allow God  during this time for a harvest time full of rejoicing. It is a time to pray for divine intervention for favourable weather (conditions) for increase and pray against cankerworms and caterpillar. It is time to attract divine attention to your labour and repel enemy infiltration. In like manner, after your salvation (sowing time) comes the waiting time for rapture or death. Above all, always remember that without sowing, there is no harvest; and without waiting, God may not intervene.

Today’s Recite: So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. - 1 Corinthians 3:7 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayer: May the LORD your God make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your land for good. May He Make you watchful and patient for the harvest. For the LORD will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Today’s Hymn: There Shall Be Showers of Blessing

Today’s Read Me: Numbers 35 –36
