NOT GRAVEN BY ART AND MAN'S DEVICE
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. Acts 17:29
Paul had been sent out from Thessalonica to Berea and from Berea to Athens where he found the largest gathering of idol worshippers he had ever encountered. Everywhere in Athens was filled with one idol or another, for the city [was] wholly given to idolatry. Idol worshippers often set up a material (wood, metal, clay, any man-made items) or a picture as their god – the creator. This, Paul, pointed out in Acts chapter 17 as ignorance. And this ignorance reflects the foolishness in idolaters. It is more of foolishness to think you are an offspring of a tree, stone, carved or graven.
God is not a stone or gold, paper or poster but like us. He created you in His own image, …male and female He created us (Genesis 1:27). If you are not a stone, wood, or object, then God is not. God proved to us His image in the flesh as Jesus Christ; conceived by the Holy Ghost; lived among men. But unlike men who ever died, He resurrected after three days and ascended to heaven.
Beloved, whatever can be made by any man is not God. We didn’t create God, He created you and me. But sin had separated us from Him. But if you can be born-again, He will reveal Himself to you the more. We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,…to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:4, 5,10; Romans 8:29). And some day, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2).
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. (Revelation 21:7) If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. (Romans 8:17).
Today’s Recite: Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (KJV)
Today’s Morning Prayer: My God and heavenly Father I thank You for today’s revelation. Forgive me of any sin of idolatry. I renounce any form of idol in my life. I am Your offspring. I’m Your image. I’m the son/daughter of the Most High God. I receive Your grace and power to rule the world henceforth in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
