NO SELF-MADE HOLINESS

Who can say, I have made my heart clean? - Proverbs 20:9

One day I was reading through the Forbes magazine, and I came across a quote from George Matthew Adams, a famous American writer and businessman.  He said, “There is no such thing as a self-made man.We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make-up of our character and of our thoughts, as well as our success.”

In the same similitude, our focal verse relates this to holiness. Holiness, which can only be attained through combined encounter with God-in-Three Persons, is a spiritual attribute. Therefore, they that are in the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:8). Self-righteousness or holiness claim is an affront on God and tantamount to insincerity which in itself is a sin. We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags..(Isaiah 64:6)…they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one (Psalm 14:2,3) The scripture hath concluded all under sin....(Galatians 3:22).

Beloved, to receive the righteousness and holiness of God, you need to encounter God the Son (Jesus Christ), God the Spirit (Holy Spirit) and God the Father. (i) You must believe in name of Jesus Christ, for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12); (ii) You must be born of the Spirit  Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:5,6); (iii) And finally, you must be sanctified by God. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Amen!

Today’s Recite: We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not (1 John 5:18).

Today’s Morning Prayer: O God of Heaven, I thank You for another opportunity to be holy. I confess my self-deception called self-righteousness. Rebirth me today by Your Spirit through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. Sanctify me and make pure and blameless in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
