HE STRUCK THE ROCK, MEN ATE ANGELS’ FOOD

Behold, He struck the rock, so that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Psalm 78:20

Above scripture about the children of Israel didn’t stop there. They still doubted God, “Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?” Therefore, the LORD heard this and was furious…because they did not believe in God and did not trust in His salvation. He had rained down manna on them to eat, and given them of the bread of heaven. Men ate angels’ food. He also rained meat on them like the dust… So, they ate and were well filled. They were not deprived of their craving. But while their food was still in their mouths, the wrath of God came against them, and slew the stoutest of them, and struck down the choice men of Israel. In spite of this they still sinned and did not believe in His wondrous work. When He slew them, then they sought Him; and they returned and sought earnestly for God. Then they remembered that God was their rock. Psalms 78:21-35 (NKJV) …And that rock was Christ (1 Corinthians 10:1-4).

Are you not like the children of Israel read above: doubting God’s ability despite His daily wonders in your life. This may sound difficult to understand but do you know that every time you are in need, God strikes the Rock (Himself) for you to ensure your needs are met. Sometimes we even reject His sacrificial providence. When we ungratefully receive them, we still feel unsatisfied. He made everything you possess now. In the beginning was the Word.  All things were made through Him (Word), and without Him nothing was made that was made (John 1:1-3). The food you eat, water you drink, the house you live in, the car you drive, the cloth you wear, and everything that surrounds you exists by the Word.

Beloved, look around you. You lack nothing. Unknowingly, we all eat angels’ food on daily basis. He feeds us with the bread from heaven. Jesus said unto them. God struck the Rock and bled Himself for you on the cross. God deserves your apology. Repent today and seek Him in penitence.

Today’s Recite: For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world” (John 6:33).

Today’s Morning Prayer: O God, I am very sorry for my ignorance and ingratitude. Forgive me. I am hence grateful for the Rock and the Bread. I receive Your blessings upon my life today. I will never be ungrateful to You Lord. Grant Your grace to be mindful of Your blessings in Jesus name. Amen.
