Feb 1: A NEW VESSEL IN THE POTTER’S HAND

Daily Companion  |  1 February

A NEW VESSEL IN THE POTTER’S HAND

“O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the LORD. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! Jeremiah 18:6 (NKJV)

It is often said that ‘’there is no remedy for the broken bottle’’. This assertion is from human perspective but with God, it is said and confirmed, ‘’nothing shall be impossible’’. From our text, it could be seen that something new and better can still come out of that old, unattractive and belittled poor clay. The clay there represents you and me. It stands for your family, business, ministry, spiritual life, career, academics, wife, husband, and health that may be deteriorating. God is the Potter who can bring good things out of your past that is bad.

For example, Paul was formerly the persecutor of the church but later became the master builder of the same. The same sea where Peter could not catch a fish later brought forth so much that the ship began to sink. Luke 5:1-5. John Mark who was once considered unfit for the missionary journey eventually wrote the Gospel according to Mark. He was believed to have taken dictation from Peter while writing his epistles. Paul who had earlier rejected him later sent for him because he was useful for the ministry. I tell you, you will be the next example of these wonderful experiences.

To experience this kind of turn around, you need to (i) Go to a Potter’s house: a bible-believing and bible-practising church (Jeremiah 18:1). Christ Companion Bible Church comes highly recommended. (ii) Constantly hear the word of God. Jeremiah 18:2 (iii) Obey the words of God. Verse 3 (iv) Believe your case is redeemable. (v) Surrender to the potter. Welcome to your month of turn-around.

Today’s Recite: “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.” - Galatians 1:23

Today’s Morning Prayer: (i) Lord; I thank You because there is hope of betterment for me. (ii) Lord I declare newness upon my life right now in Jesus’ name. (iii) Lord, do unto me as the potter does with his vessel (iv) Lord, bring new things out of my broken pieces (v) Lord put me upon your well and bring the best out of me in Jesus name. Amen!
