But this is what I commanded them, saying, Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’ - Jeremiah 7:23
Obedience requires that one submits oneself to the instruction of another person: ultimately to God, wife to your husband (1Peter 3:1,5,6), children to parents (Ephesians 6:1), citizens to their government. When we fail to submit to His authority, He is pained. God feels pain when you disobey Him just as parents feel hurt when their children disobey them. We don’t want to bring pain or hurt to the One we love. Or do we? Same reason God said if you love me, you will keep my commandment (John 14:15).
The Scriptures teach us that, knowing and experiencing divine blessings and access to His throne in prayer, require determination on our part to be in full submission to His will, without any reservation. You also risk not able to command or demand obedience from others if you fail to obey higher authority. “And being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled (2 Corinthians 10:6). Demons cannot obey you if you do not have total obedience to the Lord.
If you long for an outpouring of His Spirit and experience revival in your lives, church and community, it must begin with obedience. To obey, the heart must be changed from being stubborn or stony to being sheeply and soft. You must have faith in God. Faith ignites obedience. You must love. Love drives obedience. You must be patient. Patience prevents disobedience and self-will. It is time to obey God for your much awaited blessings and breakthrough.
