REMEMBER WHOSE CHILD YOU ARE

Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch... - Revelation 3:3

A teenage girl from a humble Christian family just got admission into the university. "Ranti omo eni ti iwo n se" (Always remember whose child you are") were the exact words of her father to her as she was admonished on good character and prepared to leave home for school.

Have you ever paused to also remember whose child you are? At times, temptation comes to test your steadfastness and consistency in faith, to test your trustworthiness and righteousness. But when you pause to think, you will remember others may but you cannot. As you read in today’s key verse, you are to remember how Christ saved your life, what you have learnt and heard about holiness, and the allegiance you pledged to Jesus when you first met Him.

The world and its god, Satan will tempt you to derail you with pleasures and sins but remember whose child you are. In itself, temptation is not a sin but consent to it. And falling into temptation has grave consequences: destruction, diseases and death. As God warned Adam, even so, He reminds you today, "for in the day that thou eatest [the forbidden fruit] thereof thou shalt surely die" (Genesis 2:17).

Beloved, you are the child of the Most High God. Joseph was tempted by Potiphar’s wife with sexual immorality he refused to consent because he remembered that his heavenly Father was watching (Genesis 39:7-12). The crown of life awaits all overcomers (James 1:12), and they shall not be hurt by the second death (Revelation 2:11). As you step out today, never forget whose child you are.

Today’s Recite: My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. Proverbs 1:10 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. May Your kingdom free from temptation come to my heart. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give me this day my daily bread. And forgive me all my sins. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from all evil in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
