DECEMBER 30: EVERLASTING SECURITY

Daily Companion  | 30 December

EVERLASTING SECURITY

“Although my house is not so with God, Yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. For this is all my salvation and all my desire; Will He not make it increase?” (2 Samuel 23:5)

Fort Knox located in Kentucky, USA is one of the most secure places on earth. It is a military base that houses about 40 thousand people, a military school, a special safe haven for historical documents, and most importantly a treasury for the largest gold collection in the world estimated at 147 million ounces. It is adjudged that it is impossible to rob Fort Knox because of the sophisticated and complex security measures there.

The state of being free from danger or threat is called security. If truly Fort Knox is that secure and yet its location is known to the world thieves, how much more secure will be the invisible heaven “where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal (Matthew 6:20). Many have wondered where heaven is located. Some out of curiosity have attempted to locate heaven. From tower of Babel to launching of space airship, all human efforts have been in futility. God has not only secured and kept the heaven hidden from worldly corruption, He has also restricted access to heaven to only persons with pure and peaceable hearts.

Using prophets, pastors, evangelists and other preachers of the gospel, God has compassionately pleaded with men and women from generation to generation unto salvation and sanctification so as to be eligible access to heaven. By a singular offering of His Son, God “has perfected for ever them that are sanctified” (Hebrew 10:14). This He made through an agreement, an everlasting covenant to offer an everlasting security of life to those who are saved and sanctified.

Dear friend, everlasting life is an offer of immortality that eternally secures you from the danger of hell, death and the devil. Your place in heaven is prepared and protected for you to enjoy forever. Where all that you possess can be secure; and you obtain “everlasting consolation” from all the troubles of this sinful world (2 Thessalonians 2:16). This world is not your rest and here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come, the heavenly where we shall ever be with the Lord (Hebrew 13:14; Micah 2:10). And everyone who has this hope purifies himself even as He is pure.

Today’s Recite:  I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant. Ezekiel 16:60

Today’s Morning Prayers: Oh Lord Jesus, I thank You for preparing and securing a place for me in heaven. Save me from all the sinful temptations in this world and sanctify my heart. Keep me eligible for Your kingdom always.
