DECEMBER 24: WHO IS THE LORD?

Daily Companion  | 24 December

WHO IS THE LORD?

And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go." - Exodus 5:2

It was Sarah's first day as the Receptionist. A man walked in and headed towards the assistant manager's office. "Hey, stop there! Who are you? Can you please Identify yourself?", She stopped the man. The man with a surprised look on his face. "I'm Dr. Ray, the CEO. You must be new." "I'm so sorry sir. "I didn't know you. This is my first day here."

Our knowledge of an individual plays a great significance in our disposition to them. Hardly will people obey persons they do not know. So it was no surprise that Pharaoh declined assent to let Israel go. Sarah could have reacted to Dr. Ray differently, had she known him as the CEO.

Our knowledge of God will determine the level of obedience to him. From a newborn in Christ to older believers in Christ, seeking to know God more and more will strengthen our ties with Him and attract more benefits.

And those who know Your name will put their trust in You.  Psalms 9:10 - NKJV)

Calling upon a name when you cannot identify the person could be as very frustrating and disappointing as not knowing the name at all especially when the person chooses not to answer you. You need the knowledge of God to hear when He speaks. This is important in identifying God's will and differentiating your own or devil's voice from God's.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow [obey] me" (John 10:27).

If you have disobeyed God, it's because you don't know Him or you are a rebel. God however is angry with all who do not know or obey Him. As God poured His vengeance on Pharaoh, so is the Lord angry with the sinner every day (Psalms 7:11).

In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: (2 Thessalonians 1:8)

Dear friend, it is time to know your God. But you need to repent first. We know God does not hear a sinner except to repent (John 9:31). When you know God, you’ll know He’s holy and what is capable of. He is full of power and might, full of mercy and grace to the humble, a deliverer to the oppressed, and a Saviour in times of trouble. Know God, know peace. Know God, obey God.

Today’s Recite: But the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits. - Daniel 11:32

Today’s Morning Prayers:  O Lord God I thank You for You are the Mighty God who saves. Forgive my past disobedience because I didn't know You well. Now I seek to know You, hear Your voice and obey You. Make me know You more and more in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Today’s Hymn: Draw Me Nearer, Nearer

Today’s ReadMe:  Genesis 1 - 2
