DECEMBER 16: AGE IS A NUMBER

Daily Companion  | 16 December

AGE IS A NUMBER

But the LORD said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. - Jeremiah 1:7

Henry Ford said, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at 20 or 80. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young”.

Jeremiah was called into the ministry at a tender age. When God charged him. He played the child card but God corrected him, and that became a turning point in his life. Afterwards, he became a fearless preacher and prophet. From his youth, he began to stand before kings and authorities with the message of God. Jeremiah’s life is a challenge to every youth today. Age is a mere number, that’s all. Age is not a limitation before God! The only limitations are the ones your society or you have set for yourself.

Are you a child or a youth?  Never say “I am still young” to your dreams and visions.  Discover your purpose today. Those who dare to become their truest version will find a deeper purpose in life. And, when life has a purpose, time has no boundaries. When time has no boundaries, age really is just a number! If you fail to act today, tomorrow may not allow a make-up for your yesterday.

Are you an old adult? Just know that the amount of breaths you have taken to get to where you are today is merely an indication of your age. Grey hair is no longer a reliable indicator of an old age. The young now grows grey. What matters more are the experiences you've had, the connections and impacts you've been able to make, fulfilling your God-given mandate.

Caleb was 40 years old when he was sent to spy on Canaan. At age 85 (45 years later), hear what he had to say: “Here I am this day, eighty-five years old ...yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in” (Joshua 14:10-12).

Beloved, arise and do as your Lord commands. Take charge. Let no one despise your age, young or old. Reach out. Preach in season and out of season. Spend and be spent for God while you still hold His breaths in you. Your greatest dream will always be younger than you. Your age will remain a mere number that will stop clocking one day but what would be left of you is your legacy.

Today’s Recite:  Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. - 1 Timothy 4:12

Today’s Morning Prayers: Lord, I thank You for creating me for a purpose. Help me to discover my true purpose in life. Grant me grace and resources to maximise my potential and fulfil my vision. I arise to obey Your command today. May I not fail You in Jesus name. Amen!
