“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! - Luke 15:17
The parable of the prodigal son will continue to be relevant even in the ages to come. After a mistake, poor judgment, or miscalculation in life, there could be a mess of one's life and need to move on with help from God and people. But sin and pride make people lose their senses.
Certain things, actions and inactions can make us to be stuck like the prodigal son. Ignorance, youthful exuberance, impatience and disobedience, arrogance, pride and extravagant living will get one into trouble. We are to be reminded that God owns and holds all the resources that can make us fulfil our set goals. Without Him, we are nothing. But there are no limitations to what you can do through Christ when you swallow your pride and be humble before Him.
Like the prodigal son, who came to himself, admitting that you can't do certain things on your own is not a sign of weakness or humiliation. And there is no shame in seeking help; whether it's with something as straightforward as moving a load or as challenging as attempting to move on after a loss or setbacks in your career or financial life.
Beloved, it is time to swallow your pride. (i) Arise, Shake yourself from the dust; …loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money (Isaiah 52:2-3). (ii) confess and repent every bit of past mistakes, disobedience and pride. (iii) Accept the chastisement of the Father if offered. He whom the Father loves, He chastises. You are God’s beloved (iv) Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10) and the the joy of the Lord will become your strength. With God nothing is impossible with you and if God be for you, who can be against you? No one!
Today’s Recite: Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (John 15:4).
Today’s Morning Prayer: My heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word again to me this morning. I confess my past mistakes, poor judgement, sins of pride and disobedience and accept Your chastisement. Grant me Your mercy and second chance, Lord. Revive me. Restore unto me all that I have lost to careless and insensible living. Redeem the time for me. Grant me Your strength. For in Jesus mighty name, I pray. Amen!
