“And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1 (NKJV)
A poor young man was seen at the court premises crying, "Help me, Save my family," When a lawyer asked him what he wanted, he said, "I am the firstborn of my father and people are taking away all my late father's property. I want a lawyer to claim back my inheritance but I cannot afford the lawyer. Please, help me" The lawyer replied, "I will talk to my senior partner to take your case pro bono."
Pro bono is a Latin phrase which means "for the public good." The phrase often describes professional services that are provided for free or at a reduced rate to the poor or non-profit body either as goodwill or as a form of social responsibility.
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Satan is an accuser and a prosecutor before God. Every sinner is under the arrest, prison or custody of Satan who patrols the earth to and fro seeking a breaker of God’s law to catch and oppress. He baits the unsuspecting souls with temptations for them to fall into sin. Every sinner is on awaiting trial till judgment day.
But there is a righteous and reliable Lawyer (Advocate) who, is not only ready to plead for the cause of the poor but can as well pay for their debts. His name is Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who was crucified, rose again and now “lives to make intercession” (Hebrew 7:25). He is a pro bono Mediator who has never lost a case. “Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, ...but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God” the great Judge (Hebrew 9:24).
