Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” - Luke 6:38 (NKJV)
There were two friends. One was generous to the community and the other was very stingy. As they grew older, their riches began to wane and they both lost everything. It became difficult to feed themselves. One day, the stingy friend visited his friend, only to find out his compound was full of people with items to give the generous friend. Curious, stingy friend asked, "Why has no one come to my house to give me too?" His friend replied, "Givers never lack."
It is established that givers never lack. The act of giving is naturally embedded in the heart of a truly born-again Christian. Our God is a generous Giver. When He gives, He gives liberally, and so He expects from all His children.
The world is sustained by God's giving strategies. In economics, it is called the circular economy. In the ecosystem, it is called the food chain. Can you imagine what will be the consequences of the sky failing to give rain and the sun failing to shine? It will be a curse on the earth. Likewise, people suffer when there are no givers. For this reason, God has placed a covenanted blessing upon all givers (believers or no believers) to reward everyone who partakes in His sustainability strategies. Proverbs 28:27 says, "Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses."
Beloved, the Church of God, which you are part of is established to help the poor. And God requires that you actively participate. Don't wait till you have before giving. Give from the little you have. "He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). Are you rich or do have excess, never withhold, for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth...” (Deuteronomy 8:18). Give to the poor today.
