CHRIST'S ITINERARY

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison (1 Peter 3:18,19).

Some bible students have asked what happened during the three days of our Lord Jesus Christ in the tomb. Not only this period has significant implication on the supremacy of Christ but a great sign and authentication of His power to effect our ultimate liberty. Christ’s itinerary during the three days shows He has power over death and life, in heaven and even hell. He is the Omnipresent. David said, “If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.” (Psalm 139:7-10).

Christ’s first itinerary after death was in the paradise. He told the thief on the right, “today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). Paradise is the temporary abode of the righteous; a place of bliss and joy. Jesus went to paradise on the day He was crucified.

Secondly, before finally conquering death, our Lord Jesus included hell in His itinerary. O yes, He paid the spirits a visited there. By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison (1 Peter 3:19). This was never to give them a second chance to repent because there is no second chance in death. It was to affirm that He has power over them all even in hell. It was to confirm to those in hell that the gospel message of redemption that they rejected was real. It was to affirm to those who are awaiting final judgement that God was real with His redemption plan that they disobeyed.

The final part of his itinerary was the victory over death: “the last enemy that will be destroyed”.  “O Death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?”  (1 Corinthians 15:26,55).

Dear beloved, what a great privilege we have in Christ! He has power to forgive us our sin, set us at liberty from the oppressor, from hell and even death. What is that issue in your life? None is beyond Christ. A simple invitation to Him is all that is required and He will add you to His itinerary today. May the Lord visit you and your family today. Amen!

Today’s Recite: Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20).

Today’s Morning Prayers:  Thank You Jesus for the revelation this morning. Ask you to add me to your itinerary today. Visit me and my family for a lifetime miracle. Nothing is impossible for You. Nowhere is difficult for You to go. Visit me O Lord and Bless me. Amen!
